Affordable Housing Initiative

The Village of Lumby is considering changes to the Zoning Bylaw to help facilitate the provision of more affordable housing.

These changes originated from the stakeholder engagement process of the Affordable Housing Strategy which was adopted by Council November 20, 2017.

The proposed changes would allow for secondary detached dwellings (i.e. “carriage houses”), and would achieve more compact residential development by allowing for smaller lot sizes, removal of minimum floor area requirements, reduced frontage and setback requirements, and by allowing multiple dwellings on a single lot in the Residential Multiple Family (R.3) Zone.

The Village of Lumby is looking for feedback. Feedback should be submitted in writing to the Village or by email by August 20, 2018.

Residents, home builders, developers and others with an interest in the provision of affordable housing and a love for the community of Lumby are encouraged to review the proposed Zoning Bylaw changes.
