An excellent destination…

Village of Lumby

Lumby’s ideal geographic location means hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, climbing, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, swimming, boating and hang gliding are incredibly accessible. And if all of that isn’t enough, a short drive will take you to Silver Star Ski Resort for world renowned skiing and snowboarding.

Salmon Trail

Explore the Salmon Trail while in Lumby. These scenic trails follow the Bessette and Duteau creeks, the easternmost spawning grounds of Pacific Coho and Chinook Salmon. There are three trails connected via downtown streets. Each trail has information, art, and activities on varying themes. The environments you find along the trails range from the Cottonwood riparian habitat to the industrial land that is indicative of Lumby’s association with forest products. The trails are a first step towards developing a harmonious coexistence between industry and our natural environment.

The Lumby Visitor Centre offers free Salmon Trail tours from June to August. Join our student guides on an informative and beautiful stroll through the Lumby Salmon Trail. Walks as short as 1km and as long as 8 km are offered on terrain that is flat and accessible to wheelchairs, prams, and bicycles. To get the most out of your visit, start at the Visitor Centre where you can obtain a trails passport, a child activity guide, or even request an educational guided tour. Your leashed pet is welcome and doggie bags are provided.

Interpretative signs, activities, and scenery make the trails interesting and fun for everyone at any time of the year. Touch and play activities will interest young children while puzzles and discovery points will captivate the attention of older children and adults. Benches provide frequent resting spots while picnic tables make the trails a perfect spot for a snack.

The trails are an ideal location to hold events such as benefit races, bird counts, community walks, and group and school outings. For help in planning your event or to take part in one of the several year round events occurring on the trails contact the Lumby Chamber at lumbychamber@shaw.ca or phone 250-547-2300 and visit www.monasheetourism.com

Lumby is located twenty minutes east of Vernon, British Columbia and only forty-five minutes from the Kelowna International Airport. The town’s location makes it a very accessible place to visit.

A Lakes Destination….. be BOATsmart!

Lumby and surrounding areas offer ease of access to numerous lakes within 45 minutes of downtown Lumby. The Canadian Government reminds you to be BOATsmart! and that all boaters are required to carry proof of competency while operating powered watercraft.
