2009 Capital Works Projects

Shuswap Avenue Bridge Replacement
The Village of Lumby will remove existing Shuswap Ave. Bridge over Duteau Creek and replace with a single-span bridge complete with pedestrian walkway that will enable safe pedestrian movement over the bridge to the South Industrial Park. Budget: $ 445,000 with $356,000 being granted by the Province of BC.

Mable Lake Walkway
The municipality will construct a multi-use paved pathway from J.W. Inglis School to Cedar Ridge St. on Mable Lake Rd. (Shuswap Ave.), which supports council’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering Lumby’s carbon footprint. Budget: $245,000 we are currently awaiting word on a grant that would cover 50% of the cost.

Sentinel Well Program
In support of its Wellhead Protection Plan, the municipality will monitor numerous private water wells located in and around the Village of Lumby’s boundaries for depth and water quality. This program will establish a baseline for ongoing water quality monitoring in the Lumby aquifer.

Transportation and Pathway Network Master Plan
The municipality will develop a detailed plan of existing and future roadways and pathways Lumby. The plan will: 1) link identified pathways (either sidewalks or multi-use) with subdivisions into the downtown core and the Salmon Trail; and 2) act as a blueprint for future roadway development.
