Maple Street Bridge Replacement
The Village of Lumby will remove existing Maple Street Bridge over Bessette Creek and replace it with a single-span bridge complete with pedestrian walkway that will enable safe pedestrian movement over the bridge. Budget: $ 500,000 with $400,000 being granted by the Province of BC. The project is slated for completion in late Summer of 2010.
Stage Three of Village Water Supply
This project entails, the installation of the third water pump, waterlines from the well to the treatment plant, and a treated waterline to be connected to Haller Street to loop the water system, plus a standby generator. The cost of the project is $600,000 with funding coming from the Federal Stimulus Fund and the Province in the amount of $396,000 and the Village’s share being $204,000. The project is slated for coletion in late Fall of 2010.
Sentinel Well Program
In support of its Wellhead Protection Plan, the municipality will monitor numerous private water wells located in and around the Village of Lumby’s boundaries for depth and water quality. This program will establish a baseline for ongoing water quality monitoring in the Lumby aquifer.
