  • Plans for the Salmon Trail
  • Community Meetings

The contest was open to every artist and would-be artist of any age. The winning logo will be used on large signs, brochures and letterheads, as well as on clothing and objects related to the trail.

Guidelines

In judging, the 5 cardinal rules of Logo design were followed. The logo had to:

  1. be unique and representative of the Lumby Weyerhaeuser Salmon Trail - The selection committee was interested in references to the geography of Lumby, the First Nations heritage, the salmon itself, and the physical attributes of this trail.

  2. avoid too much detail - better to be simple and compelling.

  3. work well in black and white as well as in colour (not more than 3 colours).

  4. be scalable, meaning it has to look equally good on a business card as on a billboard.

  5. be artistically balanced.

Logo Contest Entries

The Logo Contest, run by the Lumby Weyerhaeuser Salmon Trail, has resulted in four entries of excellent quality. Below are the black and white versions of the entries received. The coloured versions will be added soon, and the originals will be shown at the Whitevalley Community Resource Centre on November 29th, between 7:00 and 9:00 PM, as the winners are awarded their prizes.

This entry was submitted by Frances Sutton, of Lumby.

This entry was submitted by Bobbi Fetterly, of Lumby.

This entry was submitted by Robin LeDrew, of Lumby.

This entry was submitted by Allison McKill, of Vernon.

All four are winners !

There are four prizes to be given by Vernon's Beyond Art Gallery. The prizes will be awarded publicly on Tuesday, NOVEMBER 29th, during the second SALMON TRAIL COMMUNITY MEETING.

In addition to seeing the Logos in full colour and meeting the artists, you will also find out about the wonderful events that are planned to occur in our community within the next 6 months. You will also see how the Salmon Trail team is planning to make the trail educational, interesting and beautiful.

Plans for the Salmon Trail

A large map, showing the three sections of the trail along with the information, artwork and areas we plan to install will be on display on Tuesday, November 29th at the Whitevalley Community Resource Centre between 7:00 and 9:00 PM

As well as the installations, we'll be showing you a calendar of yearly events we hope to plan for the trail. We have already raised the funds for some of the events, which will also be announced during that evening.

We want your input and your feedback. Now is the time for everyone interested to comment on the plans and let us know your good ideas.

Community Meetings

The first meeting, which was held in September 2005, resulted in many ideas from artists, artisans and business people, that have since been followed up. We have wonderful announcements to make and future plans to share with the community.

If you are interested in what will and can happen in Lumby, you should definitely show up for the 2nd meeting planned for November 29th, 7:00 to 9:00 PM, at the Whitevalley Community Resource Centre.
