TRANSPORTATION, SIDEWALKS AND TRAILS OPERATIONS

Infrastructure:
The Village has 22 kilometers of roadway, and sidewalk, with 7 kilometers of trails. Two major bridges, Shuswap Avenue and Maple Street. 

Operations:
During the course of the year as part of the normal operations of the transportation system, the Public Works Department maintains the general road system, inspects the sidewalks and repairs those portions that could cause problems to the users. Signage, street sweeping, sidewalk clearing and cleaning is part of the normal maintenance.

 The Salmon trail system is inspected on a weekly basis. On call in by users of the trails of issues on the trail system, Public Works attends as soon as feasible.

During the Winter months, there is a defined snow-removal priority list, which is advertised in the local papers every Fall, and will be posted on the Village website at that time. The Village has a priority listing of general road upgrades based on a criteria, the road priority listing is reviewed annually.

The cost of the operation is part of the general public works operational budget.
